Review: My BMW broke down on the highway and the dealership in West Chester wiggled the timing chain alittle and suggested it was stretched, said it probably needed a new timing chain and possibly needed a new engine, this despite multiple fault codes including timing, turbo, electronics, etc…$26,000+ bucks. Nobody asked me what the car did before breaking down (the AC was not working right, the car turned itself off, ie electronics stuff) or what noise the car made (pretty common mechanic question). Enter super-mechanic Jason Dubble stage left. Several minutes into discussing the case and checking the fault codes, like the ASE master mechanic diagnostician that he is, he highly suspected it was an electronics issue, tentatively quoted me a $3,000-4,000 typical price for this type of repair. After looking at the car, Mr. Dubble confirmed his suspicions and diagnosed the Computer and some other electronics part as the culprits. The repair cost was as quoted earlier. The car runs like a breeze now, no timing misfires, no broken engine clanking sounds, no funny exhaust. Mr. Dubble and wife are easy to talk to, hard working, honest and trustworthy folk. I knew from the instant I spoke to them that they would never take advantage of me or anybody. The BMW dealership was glitzy and people talked professional, sent me a video detailing their findings, but ultimately they would’ve cost me a thousand dollars to open the engine, and hinted at $27,000 bucks (yeah I know) to replace a nonbroken engine, turbo, timing chain. (Or maybe they would’ve discovered the computer was bad….eventually?) The Dubble’s are the people you should entrust your fancy German car to. I know I will with mine from now on. They saved me possibly $20,000 or more, essentially saving the car from the junk heap. I will reward these honest, hardworking, trustworthy people with my business. I suggest you do also. Berks County german car owners are lucky to have a fine auto shop like this in town.
