Summary: Thorough

Review: Excellent, thorough work by Platt’s. Very expensive, however! Example: I recently had my car, 2003 Chevy Tracker (220,000 mi) in for an oil change and replacement of an inside “dome” light. I estimated total to be max $300.00. By the time Platt’s looked over the car, the bill came to $1,788.00, for oil change and a lot of other stuff they found. Dome light not included. THEN, after paying them for what they had done ( which was legitimate and approved by me), they told me that additional work needed to be done, including anti-lock braking system and dome light, but they could not tell me how much it would cost until they looked inside more. In the end, the extra work for the anti-lock braking system and dome light came to two charges of $713.72 and $653.70! The total bill for work done on 2/2, 2/3 and 2/6 came to $3,672.00. Whew! The car apparently needed the work, but now I must figure out a way to pay for it . . . Their charge for labor is about $160.00 per hour. Wonder how much their people are paid.
