Summary: We were traveling through Durango..

Review: We were traveling through Durango on our way from Albuquerque to Ft. Collins in a blizzard on New Years weekend. On the highway up to Durango, we hit a large rock in the middle of the road and damaged the underside of the car. Although we could drive the car, we wanted a mechanic to take a look at it to let us know if we could safely get to Ft Collins. We have a BMW and we found online that Durango Small Car works on them. I called at 4:50 p.m. on Friday and asked if they could get it in on Saturday or Monday (New Years Eve). They said they are closed Saturday, but to come in at 8 a.m. on Monday. They put the car on a lift and after inspecting it, brought my son and I back into the shop to take a look at it. They carefully showed us all of the damage which included a cracked transfer case which they said would easily cost $2000. I was then asked if I had comprehensive insurance which was the first time I had considered this damage as an insurance claim. They were courteous, friendly and efficient and although it was in their best interest to say that the car was unsafe to drive, they told us that we could drive to Ft. Collins and get it fix there. We hope to move to Durango in the future and when we do the Durango Small Car will be our car repair shop of choice.
