Review: I have taken many vehicles to many repair shops over the past 71 years, so it has real significance when I say that the Kirkwood facility gave by far the best auto service I have experienced in my entire life. A 96 Camaro Z28 turned out to be a difficult and highly problematic restoration in the hands of another shop; it largely defeated that mechanic's considerable expertise which was not prepared to address the complexities of a newly assembled LT1 383 engine. Anthony and his staff both at Kirkwood and Briar Forest worked with lengthy and dogged persistence to raise the entire drive train to optimal performance. When a computer tuning remained as the final issue---all others having been successfully addressed---Anthony contacted an ECU expert who is almost certainly the only person in the Houston area who can tune a 93 through 97 LT1 to perfection. The shop has installed brakes, rear end, fuel system, dash instrumentation, fuel rails, fuel injectors and other components and services comprising just too many to list. The staff worked many hours on engine problems for which I was not charged. Even in the realm of superb service, a business can stand out for unusual attention to detail and a genuinely friendly demeanor. In the massive field of Houston auto shops, McDaniel's Auto Care possesses an unusual and distinctive excellence.
